Algarve

We have spent the winter in Algarve-Portugal. This place is really nice. The weather, including winter, is really good, it’s not so expensive, people are nice, there are things to see. We have swum in the ocean the whole winter, a bit fresh but warmer than in Iceland during summer =)

Unfortunately when place are that good, of course it becomes really touristic. But it’s really calm during the winter, empty from tourists.

When you see a parrot outside, then you are definitively not in Iceland anymore.

During long sailing trip, it’s not every day holiday.

I am cleaning again the bottom of Kata Lind. Due to the none poison paint that I have under my boat, the algae are growing fast. So I have to clean regularly. It’s priceless, a boat capable to beach. It’s free for me, it costs a crane and parking place for all other boats….

You have to set the sail too. It’s that hard that you need to rest after =)

Algarve is a nice and known place to see a lot of birds. Few pictures of some birds that we have seen.

Up the river Guadiana :

There is unfortunately a bridge at the entrance of this river. The bridge is given 3 meters less than my mast. So theoretically I can’t go.  But there is high and low tide, so we will try to pass under at the low tide. Thelma up in the mast.

As expected, it was short clearance but we did it. There is no bridge after this one. yeah.

Spanish side of the river. The Spanish people celebrates Easter really seriously. They take out of the church the symbol the brotherhood and they make a parade in the all town with it. Everyone dress like for a weeding and dance. You have many brotherhoods in the same town. So it’s a big party.
